Gophers volleyball senior Dalianliz Rosado was on the Big Ten Foreign Tour in June.  We’ll hear about her travels and competition and the challenges of leaving her home in Puerto Rico to play for Minnesota.  Also, a look at a youth hockey association that prepares its athletes for collegiate-level play.  Minnesota Blades board member (and U of M Law School alum) Terry Moore talks about the organization’s player development process.

Jul 13 Best of Gopher Sports Update: Former Gopher Women’s Basketball Standout and Current Augsburg College Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach Jackie Voit

Last year, former GSU host Mike Gallagher chatted with former Gophers Women’s Basketball player Jackie Voit about her new role as Augsburg College’s assistant women’s basketball coach, reuniting her with Head Coach Ted Riverso who was an assistant coach with the Gophers from 2008-2012.

Jun 16 Remembering Legendary Gophers Coach Roy Griak

It’s a “Best of Gopher Sports Update” this week as we look back on the remarkable career of longtime Gophers Cross Country and Track & Field Head Coach Roy Griak. Coach Griak passed away two years ago. Former GSU hosts Matt Nelson and Mike Gallagher reflected on Griak’s legacy during a July 2015 show.  A 2008 interview with Griak was resurrected from the GSU archive.

May 18 Former Gophers Football Star Marion Barber Jr. Earns Degree & Softball Team Vows NCAA Snub Will Work to Their Advantage at Tournament

Former Gophers football great Marion Barber Jr. shattered school records on the field nearly 40 years ago. But the NFL came calling in 1981, and Barber left the U before earning a degree.  This month, he officially graduated, fulfilling a promise he made to his family.

Despite a 54-3 record and 25 consecutive wins, the Gophers softball team enters the NCAA tournament unseeded. The women plan to use the snub to their advantage.
